Network Connection
A wealth of experience in connecting facilities to the grid – our team makes it seamless and efficient.
Connections Process
McCafferty Legal has extensive experience advising clients on the Chapter 5 (National Electricity Rules) connections process. As one of the most experienced firms in Australia working on the Chapter 5 connections process, we are uniquely placed to assist our clients to achieve successful connection outcomes for their projects. We work with our clients to negotiate Connection Agreements, as well as other required documents, to facilitate fit-for-purpose connection arrangements for the connection of new facilities to the transmission and distribution networks across Australia. We understand the technical, regulatory and commercial aspects that underpin a successful connection.
Our team brings invaluable insights having acted for both NSPs and developers in the connections process, and we understand how different technology types for connection may interact with the connections process in different ways. We also have a deep understanding of the different renewable energy zone frameworks across different jurisdictions which alter, or replace, the Chapter 5 (National Electricity Rules) connections framework.

Ongoing support
At McCafferty Legal, we understand that connection doesn’t end at back energisation of facilities. We are there throughout the connection life of a project, assisting clients to navigate regulatory changes to the National Electricity Rules, the processes required to make changes to a connected plant, or to add new technology to existing connections.
Given the long-term nature of connection arrangements and the constantly evolving energy environment, we give our clients the confidence to adapt and optimise their connection arrangements to suit the evolving energy landscape.
